The Call to Holiness
Have you ever wondered what Heaven is like? Have you ever wondered what we may see in Heaven? Are we worthy to enter the kingdom of God? Have we treated everyone with an inherent dignity and respect they deserve? If not, are we no longer in reach of God’s mercy?
In today’s Reading, Revelation 7:2-4,9-4, John 3:1-3 and the Gospel of Matthew 5:1-12a share a central message that God’s saving love is for all people, calling us to be of holiness, and to hope in the promises of eternal life. Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14 reveals that a multitude of people across every nation worships God in heaven. Beneath the surface of this reading, this illustrates that God has conquered sin and death and has brought us salvation and victory against it. John 3:1-3 reminds us that we are the children of God, we are unconditionally loved by him, and that we should strive to be more like Jesus. Finally, the Gospel of Matthew 5:1-12a, presents the Beatitudes, teaching us to practice mercy, justice, humility, and peace-making in our daily lives.
So what is the central message of these readings? It demonstrates God’s saving grace is for everybody, regardless of your past actions, we are all made in the image and likeness of God, we are his children whom he loves unconditionally. We are called to practice the Beatitudes, stated in the Gospel of Matthew, and that we should model ourselves to be like Jesus, the way he preached, the way he helped, showed us mercy, brining justice, and maintaining peace during his time on this Earth.

Through these readings, we are called to holiness, our actions, our faith, and the way we love should be modelled after our saviour, with the hope of sharing eternal life with God.
