Cardinal Thomas Williams RIP

Early this morning, 22 December, Cardinal Thomas Stafford Williams died at his rest home in Waikanae. He had become ill in the last couple of days and died peacefully. He was 93 years old.

Cardinal Tom was Archbishop of Wellington from 1979 until his retirement in 2005. He was appointed a Cardinal by Pope St John Paul II in 1983.

We give thanks for his ministry and witness to the Archdiocese of Wellington and the Church of New Zealand and we pray eternal rest for his soul and consolation for those who mourn him.
