Carolina Belmar

I am Carolina. I am originally from Venezuela and have called Wellington home for the past five years, after spending two years in Auckland. I have been married for 20 years and am a mother of two. While I have been Catholic all my life, it was here in Wellington that my faith took a radical turn. I went through a difficult time upon arriving, a “personal desert”, which ultimately became the place where I truly found Jesus and understood that my life, my marriage, and my talents are for God’s glory.

For many years, I was a stay-at-home mum, supporting my family as we lived in several countries. Four years ago, I discovered my passion for jewellery making, which has now become my work.

Since 2023, we have been part of the Sacred Heart Parish community. Having been welcomed so warmly ourselves, the inviting atmosphere is what led me to volunteer for the tea service, as I wanted to help ensure others feel that same sense of belonging. I also assist during Mass and join the council with a clear purpose: to be a constant and active presence for others. I know what it’s like to go through moments of vulnerability and loneliness, which is why I deeply value listening and being available.

I am also here to support the parish in any other way that is needed, offering my work and effort wherever it is most useful. My goal is to give back some of the abundant grace and support I received when I needed it most.
