Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus we thank you for your infinite love for us.
As we prepare for the reopening of our Cathedral dedicated to your Sacred Heart and your Mother Mary,
we pray that our hearts will be open
to further revelation of the depths of your love.
Help us then to love one another as you love us.
May our parish community give faithful expression to our mission and vision:
“To joyfully share God’s love. To be a missionary people united in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary”.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart may our hearts be like yours.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Amen.

What is a Novena? Novenas (nine days of prayer) are a tradition in our Church. In this Eastertide we remember how the disciples with Mary gathered in prayer constantly (Acts 1:14). Having celebrated our Lord’s Ascension, and as we celebrate Pentecost this weekend, we prepare to return to the Cathedral. A Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus has been prepared for us. It will be a joy to experience our being united in prayer during the nine days before we resume our prayer and worship in the Cathedral. Physical copies of the Novena are available in the Connolly Hall Chapel, and at St Thomas Moore Church. The prayer is also available on the parish website, and below. Please join us in praying the Cathedral Novena beginning Wednesday 29th May.
