Discerning our nation’s future through a Gospel lens.

The New Zealand Catholic bishops have today published their statement ahead of the November 7 General Election, reminding Catholics — and all people of good will — that voting is a moral and civic responsibility and should not simply come down to personal preference. 

While not endorsing particular candidates or parties, the bishops encourage people to consider a number of key themes when assessing who to support at the election: The dignity of the human person; Solidarity with one’s brothers and sisters; Rights of religious freedom and conscience; Preserving human faces and voices; Care for our common home.
