COVID-19 Response 12 Aug 2020 – Cathedral Parish and Cardinal John Dew
Tonight we have received a letter from Cardinal John to all parish leaders and church communities advising that under our current Government restrictions for Covid level 2 there is to be no further Masses and gatherings in church buildings. His, attached letter, advises that he will review this decision on Tuesday 18th August. Therefore effective immediately, in light of the Cardinal’s letter and the work being undertaken for the strengthening of the Cathedral, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel and Cathedral foyer are closed. No Masses will be celebrated at in the Chapel or at St Thomas More until further notice.
Whilst we are saddened that we have had to make this decision it is the right one in the circumstances. Please be reassured that just as we have done before, we can do again, uniting in prayer and being kind to one another and to ourselves.
